When Billie Asmus, the founder of successful consumer goods product, Repaint Tray, reached out to us asking for a set of digital ads for the spring season, we knew we had to jump at the opportunity.
From the get-go, Billie let us know of her vision for the ads - she wanted something that was funny, daring, and pushed the boundaries a little bit.
The two paid ad initiatives on Repaint Studio's radar (a push Mother's Day and Father's Day) helped guide our teams concept and ideation of two spots. We wanted to ground the ads in the realities of what her target audience (DIYers, couples, fathers, mothers) deals with on a day-to-day basis.
Our Mother's Day concept, "A Cup Of Milk", follows the story of a mother and DIYer trying to tackle that painting project of her. Little does she know, her father and son are causing absolute (well-intentioned) chaos in the kitchen.
Our Father's Day concept, "The Bedroom", follows the journey of a husband as he gets "the text" from his wife, beckoning him to the bedroom. Little does he know that it's a painting project that awaits him, not love-making.
Both of these concepts are extremely relatable, and make light of the craziness of life that Repaint Studios' target demographic likely experiences.
One of the key elements of our pre-production process for commercial work is creating pre-visuals. Our EP and Director, Dan Wu, filmed each ad, shot by shot, well in advance of shoot day. This step is important to iron out any kinks with the script, pacing, and general look and feel. With the green light and thumbs up by Billie, we knew we were on the right path for shoot day.
We worked with a fantastic post-production team to bring these to life, including Sam Powell our fantastic editing partner and Quicksilver Color, a premier color house based in Chicago. Given all of our time and energy spent in pre-production vetting the script and pre-visualization with the client, post-production process was extremely smooth with very limited revisions. This allowed us to meet Repaint Studios' campaign date targets well in advance!
The results of the ad campaigns were a great success - Repaint Studios not only drove increased traffic to their website, but also drove increased sales. A targeted digital ad campaign, with a variety of assets, truly does drive engagement and revenue.
